Man, people tell me im crazy but i got a cheap strat remake and i stripped all the electronics and put in a single humbucker that i took from my dean mlx, i routed out the trem cavity so now i can raise and lower the pitch as much as i want. it now has a floating trem, and it stays in tune perfectly.

copy and paste the URL and then put [img] and [//img] around it. Take out the second slash in the ending image tag.

man, this guitar is cheap. it fucking sucked. it was free. all i need now is a new pickguard, new tuners, the sixth bridge saddle, and a new paint job.
when i first got it it had marker on the fretboard and the neck was warped, it didnt play and wouldnt stay in tune. now i am playing van halen with it. i can dump the bar and then raise it all the way and it returns to E, no problem. it dosant have locking tuners or a locking nut.

holy shit man, dont waste your money on painting it or putting tuners in it or whatever.. buy a semi decent instrument, I bet you have almost no tone coming out of that thing.. Im not ragging on you.. just some advice.

actually, it sounds fucking awsome. its funny but the one guitar i payed over 500 for was a piece of shit. all my others are kick ass.

Whatever works for you then. I just imagined it sounding thin.
on of my fav guitars is an Epiphone strat copy w/ an explorer style neck on it. I have a fake Lawrence humbucker in the bridge and it sounds nasty in that good chunky way.. only problem is the high notes are shrill as hell and its impossible to solo on for that reason.

van halen used guitars made of different pieces of guitars, they sound good. all my guitars sound kick ass. I had a really rare 1958 epiphone kirona wood explorer, i tricked it out with open humbuckers, painted pickguard, i took out the tone knob, and took all the paint off the neck. it sounded awsome but because it was made horrible it always fell apart, thats why i play dean. If you want a better sound, the best thing i ever got was an Ashly 2 channel 12 band eq.
