uh, if your lookin fer a really dark heavey sound, drop your e srting 2 full steps, and your a string down 1 full step, its kinda like a double drop d tuning, it sounds preat funckin sweet, SFU uses it alot, bah

That's where I tune to sometimes. PRONG tuning. It sounds like mud if you suck.

i use drop D very rarely, if at all. a tuning i found kind of cool for messing around here and there is this: say you play in standard right? now drop your A string a full step and it becomes E G D G B E
its basically drop D but a string up. so you can chug on the 5th string here and there but another purpose of it is that the 6th and 5th strings are a minor 3rd (1 1/2 steps) apart and can be used for cool diminished stuff.

I used to think that too. I've gotten to like it more though as of late.
I use to use it a lot in my old band. Mostly because the other guitarist couldn't play very good so he needed to "cheat" (not saying everyone that uses drop D is a cheater though, just he used it to cheat

). I still through my RR in drop D every once in a blue moon (that'll change once I get the Floyd on it though)...mostly if I wanna play some BLS-type shit. I prefer tuning a whole step down, period
