looking for a bass amp...
i'm prepared to spend around £150 (what's that, like $200?)
i'm looking for a reliable, durable gigging amp. nothing fancy, just something with enough power to compete with a band in the room.
i don't play bass too much, only to throw some backing on the recordings i make (normally to just give it a bit of oomph) and in a covers band.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (pabass, hektik, mael, floyd, bassphemy etc. )

I've played through one of these. Definitely

EDIT - But that's a 50 Watt. Might not be enough to compete with a band.

Suppose you'd prefer a UK seller though...

i was gonna suggest my amp, it's a little more pricey but well worth it. Peavy TNT 115 combo amp, pretty powerful, lots of low end (of course), 7 band EQ, active/passive contour switch, and a few other knobs I don't know how to use

Gallien-Krueger makes a nice assortment of combos called the "backline" series. I've had the 100 watt 12" for about 6 years now. the 200 watt 2X10 combo kicks ass too.

Don't get any Ampeg that has been built since like 2005. They moved their operations overseas and now they're having all sorts of problems.
What kind of music will you be playing? You will need something powerful enough to be heard over drums. The TNT 130/TKO 115 is both inexpensive and you can't kill them. They are heavier than shit though, but that's the price you pay for them.

Well, funnily enough, you'd be better off if you were doing something fancy then you wouldn't have to blow too much money on lots of watts.
I use a Carvin power amp now. Carvin amps really do give you the best bang for your buck in watts per dollar.
EDIT: Nevermind, a cursory look at their site shows they jacked the prices way up. Fuckers.
